Clifton W.
Private tutor in Purvis, MS
Education
I'm a recent graduate of Brigham Young University-Idaho with a B.A. in English and minors in Humanities and Creative Writing. I and my family moved here to pursue graduate study. I begin an M.A. in English at USM in the Fall to prepare to teach full-time in the future.
Experience
I have taken classes in all areas of English studies, from Composition to Poetry to Technical Communication to the broad spectrum of Literature in the English language, as well as various courses in the humanities/philosophy. I scored at around the 90th percentile in both the writing and verbal portions of the GRE (Graduate Records Exam). I won awards for writing at both of the major scholarly conferences at my undergraduate university(first place at one of them), as well as the Larry Thompson Award—the most prestigious English major award given there. And I have done all this in preparation to teach others about the things I love—about the nobility and subtle harmonies of the English language, about the history of man's artistic and industrial contributions, and about the many and splendid ways we can all learn to better use and appreciate our potential as human beings.

Hobbies
Since I became a husband and a father of two sons, most of my interests have been put on the back burner and replaced by far greater ones. Aside from trying to be loving and providing for my family, I spend my time reading and writing, trying to keep up with the technological deluge of our society, hiking, honing my current skills, and planning what movies to watch and what dinners to make after our kids have gone to bed.
